UI/UX Design Engineer
Engineer first. Design and UI/UX at heart.
AIQuest builds production AI products for enterprises, sold mainly in the UK and US. Design is one of the pillars of every AIQuest product, and this role carries it. You work inside our live products' code and design their UI/UX — and the UI you design for a demo is, more often than not, the UI that ships.
A paid internship for computer science (B.Tech) and design (B.Des) students in their third or fourth year, in clearly scoped pieces, at a pace that fits around your studies.
- Learn a real product's codebase — React and TypeScript frontends over Python and AI backends.
- Make it slick — on your own branch, refine the interface to international standard: layout, typography, motion, and the details that make software feel premium and intuitive.
- Build demos that are real — every demo runs on the actual product doing what it actually does. The job is to make that reality look stunning, not to fake features.
- Create the product demos — record our existing products and turn them into polished, design-led demos for our website and sales conversations.
- Enhance aiquest.in — our marketing website is yours to improve too — new pages, sections and interactions, as well as putting your demos on it, working in its codebase.
- Your design ships — your UI/UX work does not stay in a demo. More often than not, it becomes the product's real UI.
- Work within the AIQuest design system — our established patterns, colour palette and visual language.
A buyer in London or New York should watch your demo and be impressed twice — first by what the product does, then by how good it feels to use.
Polished, but honest. No fluff, no smoke and mirrors.
What we look for
- React and TypeScript; Next.js is a plus.
- Tailwind CSS or a component library such as shadcn/ui.
- Python (FastAPI or Flask) or Node.js backends.
- Git — branches, pull requests, reading code you did not write.
- Deploying apps on Vercel, Render, AWS or similar.
- Building with LLM APIs — OpenAI, Claude, Gemini.
- Agents, RAG or structured outputs in a project that works.
- A creative eye and a real sense of aesthetics.
- Figma — wireframes, prototypes, components.
- Visual design basics: layout, typography, colour, spacing.
- An eye for detail, polish and international-standard UI.
- Comfortable working within an existing design system.
Before you apply
Is this a design role or an engineering role?
Engineering first. You will work in a real React and TypeScript codebase, so you need to be a capable developer. What sets this role apart is that you also care, a lot, about how the result looks and feels.
What should I send?
Your CV, a link to something you have built, and the best UI/UX or design work you have done — a Figma file, a portfolio, a live site. If you have edited any video, send that too.
Is the internship paid?
Yes. We go through the details in the first conversation.
Can I do it alongside my studies?
Yes — it is built for that. Work comes in clearly scoped pieces and you set the pace. If exams get in the way, tell us early and we will adjust the scope. What does not work is going quiet.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, once you have delivered work that met its agreed definition of done. It comes with a reference we will actually stand behind, because we will have seen your work.
Could it turn into a full-time role?
It can, and we would like it to for the right people. It is not promised — but good work, consistently delivered, makes that conversation very likely.
